OUR DEI STATEMENT & MISSION
United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region is committed to equity, inclusion, and anti-racist principles. Social justice and racial equity are woven into our ethos and reflected in our work in the community. Our responsibility is to amplify voices of color and ensure the families we serve are included in program policy and implementation. We envision a future with greater social and economic equality and are dedicated to creating a society that provides power and access to historically marginalized communities
Part of this work includes, but is not limited to, two annual Equity Challenge educational programs available to all members of our Dutchess-Orange community, centered around the celebration and commemoration of the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Juneteenth. OUR DEI COMMITTEE
United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region believes that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental pillars in our mission to advocate for every person's health, education, and financial stability in our community.
Diversity
Embracing all backgrounds through education and community conversations.
Equity
Understanding differences among people's lived experiences and their respective social, economic, and political needs.
Inclusion
Empowering our employees, nonprofit partners, and community members to be themselves while working with United Way.
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee promotes all dialogue in support of our community members, regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, physical ability, or background. Through our Racial Equity Challenges, we engaged with our community to localize the national conversation about race, finding great success in providing resources about topics that affect us all.
We welcome our nonprofit partners, volunteers, and the greater Dutchess-Orange region to join us in our mission to continue driving our mission through DEI.
