We are pleased to welcome three new members of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region’s Board of Directors: Candy Davies, Megan Deichler and Tim Kane.
As United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region’s governing board, with the leadership of Board Chairman Kevin Cleary, the members of our Board of Directors are dedicated to the welfare of our community. Founded in 1937, our United Way operates as an independent 501(c)3, under the direction of our Board and our President & CEO.
Our Board’s dedication has never been so evident as during the past year, when our organization, with their approval, pivoted immediately to offer aid and resources for our community members during the pandemic.
We’d also like to thank departing board members, John Nardi and Matthew Paquet, for their service and dedication.

Catherine E. “Candy” Davies, is a senior counselor and licensed clinical social worker at the SUNY New Paltz Psychological Counseling Center. She has previous experience as a buyer for IBM’s Corporate Component Procurement, adjunct instructor in business at Dutchess Community College, and business manager/treasurer for Queen City Stage, a small local theatre company. She has managed holiday meals at her church and was a member of Arlington Schools “Building Level Teams,” where she developed after-school homework tutoring programs. She was a member of the Community Advisory Committee for the Route 55 rotary project in LaGrange. She is a volunteer rowing coach and current president of Mid-Hudson Rowing Association, an adult rowing club. Candy graduated from Wesleyan University cum laude, earned a Master of Business Administration at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Social Work at Adelphi University. Candy has lived in the Hudson Valley for over 35 years with husband Bill. Their two grown children still make them very proud.
Megan Deichler is the Executive Director of the Catskill-Hudson Area Health Education Center (CHAHEC), an organization focused on supporting the healthcare workforce through providing educational opportunities for youth, students, and existing health professionals. CHAHEC covers an 11-county catchment area in the Hudson Valley which includes Dutchess County and has worked on career exploration programs with youth in the City of Poughkeepsie. A goal of CHAHEC is to bring more diversity to the health workforce and encourage historically underrepresented students to consider careers in healthcare. Prior to joining CHAHEC, Megan spent years working in a variety of areas of public health, including population health research and health philanthropy.
Megan holds a Master of Public Health degree in International and Community Health from NYU and a bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville College. She volunteers with the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region and is a member of its Community Impact Council. Megan lives in the City of Poughkeepsie with her husband and their dog.
Tim Kane lives in Hyde Park, NY with his wife Victoria (Tory). They have lived in Hyde Park and Staatsburg for the past 31 years. Tim moved to the Hudson Valley to work for IBM after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1985. Tim has held a number of technical, management, and executive positions in IBM. He is currently Vice President for Storage Quality and Client Experience. He is widely regarded for his work with clients and a focus on product quality. Tim and Tory raised their three children - Garrett, Lilly, and James - here in the Hudson Valley. The children attended Hyde Park schools. Tim and his family lived in Shanghai, China for two years as part of an International Assignment with IBM.
The family attends Regina Coeli Church and Tim served on the Parish Council. Tim is currently on the Board of Directors for Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress. Tim is an active member of the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club and currently serves on the Board of Directors as Secretary. Tim enjoys sailing on the Hudson River, skiing in the winter, and competing in epee fencing.
